Dani Canziani started dancing and competing about 25 years ago in
the country-western dance circuit. She
competed in both the couples and the team divisions, with her team winning
every possible award available at the time (from costume to choreography). The team also performed on two dance cruises
in the Caribbean.
One night while in the Country Palace
in Concord,
Dani saw a couple doing a dance she didn’t recognize. It was Tom Mattox doing the West Coast Swing
– and from that very moment, she was hooked!
Although country two-step is still an all-time favorite, WCS became Dani’s passion. She
went to southern California
on a regular basis to work with instructors there and to learn this dance from
the best.
Dani moved to Sacramento around 1990 and
immediately was asked to teach WCS, and in the mid-90’s, she started competing
on the “swing circuit”. Since that time,
she has been teaching regular weekly classes (7 years at the Ballroom of
Sacramento), private lessons, coaching and choreography. Dani has choreographed routines and coached
couples competing (and placing!!!) in the US Open as well as having competed at
the US Open two-times with the award-winning swing team River City Rhythm.
In addition to teaching and
coaching, Dani is a local as well as a national judge, working swing and
country events from California to New York, Washington to Texas. Dani is a Board Member of The World Swing
Dance Council (WSDC) and a representative on the Board of the National
Association of Swing Dance Events (NASDE).
She has also been the Convention Chair for the Capital Swing Dancers'
Presidents’ Day Convention for 10 years running.
In the fall of 2005, Dani
moved to Reno
and now is a member of the Biggest Little Swing Dance Club as well as Capital
Swing. She is excited about this new
location and would love to dance and work with you on your swing style and
technique! For privates, please contact
